I think it’s safe to say if you’re here you’ve either heard of Thirty One Gifts or someone has introduced you to Thirty One Gifts and it’s business opportunity.

And naturally you have some questions that need answering , such as – is Thirty One Gifts a scam?

Well, I can put your mind at ease, Thirty One Gifts is not a scam. Nor a pyramid scheme. They have a legit homebased business opportunity to anyone who’s interested.

But this business opportunity is definitely not for everyone. So today I’m going to take a look at this business opportunity, their products, and what you have to do to make money.

And I’m confident after reading my review you’ll be in a much stronger position to make an informed decision as to whether or not Thirty One Gifts is right for you.

Thirty One Gifts is a multilevel marketing company based in Columbus, Ohio that sells fashion handbags and accessories.

The company was founded in 2003 by Cindy Monroe who’s goal with the company is to help women with the opportunity to run their own successful homebased business.

Currently there are 70,000 sales consultants around the country.

The Products

Thirty One Gifts has a very large selection of Utility Totes, Bags, Thermals and Accessories. So, I’m not going to list them all here. But here’s a peek of what they have to offer. You can see the entire catalogue of what they have on their website.

Utility Totes

• Grocery Totes – these are used for grocery shopping. Prices range between $18.00 to $48.00.
• Oversized Totes – just as the name suggests these are their biggest totes. Prices range between $48.00 to $108.00.
• Work Totes – these totes are designed to get you through your day. Prices range between $48.00 to $78.00.
• Small Utility Totes – these totes are great for shopping and can be folded up for easy carry and storage. Prices range between $18.00 to $24.00.
• Large Utility Totes – nice sized totes for hauling beach towels or your BBQ gear and everything in between. Prices are $38.00 and $48.00.

Bags

• Backpacks – these range in price from $22.00 to $98.00.
• Beach Bags – these range in price from $22.00 to $62.00.
• Crossbody Bags – these range in price from $48.00 to $68.00.
• Day Bags – these range in price from $38.00 to $68.00.
• Diaper Bags – these range in price from $38.00 to $88.00.
• Tote Bags – these range in price from $58.00 to $78.00.
• Travel Bags – these range in price from $48.00 to $108.00.
• Work Bags – these range in price from $68.00 to $88.00.

These thermals are designed to keep everything nice and cool.

So, How Much Is It To Get Started With Thirty One Gifts?

To become a consultant for Thirty One Gifts you will need to purchase a starter kit. You have 3 different kits to choose from.

Basic Sellers Kit – $59.00 (value $261.00)

• You get 8 of their most popular styles. You choose your prints, plus one personalization design.

Signature Fan Favs – $99.00 (value $431.00)

• Includes everything from the Basic Bestsellers Kit, plus 3 additional styles. You pick your prints & 3 personalization designs.

Ultimate Goal Setter – $179.00 (value $769.00)

• Includes everything from the Signature Fan Faves Kit, plus 7 additional styles. You pick your prints & 5 personalization designs.

As a consultant you get your own replicated website. There is a fee os $16.95 per month to maintain your website.

Thirtyonetoday.com which is access to your Virtual Office, and the Thirty One Gifts app that allows you to access your virtual office from anywhere.

How Do You Make Money With Thirty One Gifts?

Like all MLM companies they have confusing and complicated compensation plans and Thirty One Gifts is no different. Now it was a challenge to find detailed information regarding their compensation plan beyond the simplified version on their website.

Now on their website they say as a consultant you can earn 25% commission on all sales and up to 35% when you meet specific requirements. And you can receive bonuses as you rise through the ranks of their compensation plan.

So, this means you have the 2 ways of making money. First is through retail sales. And this can be done through your website or through hosting in home parties.

Now if you want any opportunity to make the big income, they say you can make it’s going to take more than just selling products at retail.

To have any opportunity to earn the bonuses that are available you will have to start recruiting people into your business (downline).

The ranks that are within their compensation plan are:

• Consultant
• Senior Consultant
• Director
• Senior Director
• Executive Director
• Senior Executive Director
• National Executive Director

Now as with all of these ranks you must meet and maintain the required qualification to earn the bonuses of that rank.

I searched for a long time to find the most recent information regarding their compensation plan. And the most recent one I found is from 2017.

It goes into detail of what’s required to reach the different ranks and the bonuses that come with each rank. Now I can’t confirm if this information is current but when it comes to most MLM companies, their compensation plans really don’t change that often.

There’s also a couple of terms that you must be aware of so you can be eligible for commissions.

The first is staying an Active Consultant. And to stay as an active consultant you must submit $200 worth of personal volume (sales) in every rolling three-month period. This includes the current month the 2 months prior.

The other term you need to be aware of is Qualified Consultant. To become a qualified consultant, you first of course need to be an active consultant who submits their first $1000 of personal volume (sales).

How Do You Sell Thirty One Gifts Products?

There are 2 ways of selling these products.

The number 1 way they recommend you sell their products is face-to-face. They recommend this because this way your potential customers can see and feel the products. And they recommend doing this through in-home parties.

These parties can be done at your own home or they can be done at someone else’s home and these people that host a party are known as “insiders”.

And as an incentive for an insider to host a party. This person can earn discounts, free products, exclusive items, and credits that they can use to purchase Thirty One Gifts products.

Another way that you can sell these products is virtually. And by holding a virtual party you can invite friends, family from all corners of the country or in the world for that matter.

And then you would simply direct people to your replicated website where they can make their purchases.

So, Can You Expect To Make Money With Thirty One Gifts?

When it comes to earning money with an MLM I wish I could tell you that you have a good chance of reaching whatever financial goals you have set for yourself. But I can’t.

99% of people that get involved with an MLM business end up losing money. And the people that are making money are NOT making any significant income.

And Thirty One Gifts is no different.

Even their own income disclosure statement shows you have an extremely low chance of making any real money.

The image below is the average income for consultants of Thirty One Gifts is over a one year period. At the time of this writing the income disclosure statement found on their website is for the year 2019.

As you can see 87.4% of all active consultants during 2019 earned less than $999.00 for the entire year. So, on average consultants earned a whopping $83.25 per month.

That’s not even a part time income, let alone the life changing money they say you can earn with their business opportunity.

And keep in mind this is not profit being reported in this income disclosure statement. These numbers do not show the expenses incurred by a consultant in the operation or promotion of their business.

This information alone should have you seriously questioning this business opportunity.

Numbers don’t lie! This is not a great opportunity.

What Are People Saying About Thirty One Gifts?

Well like any product from any company you’re going to have people that rave about the product. And you’re going to have people that despise the product.

So, when you go sourcing out reviews such as Amazon and the Better Business Bureau use those as your guide to the company’s products and how they treat their customers.

But at the end of the day, the only one that can decide if this is a company you want to do business with, is you.

What Training And Tools Can You Expect?

Your training will come from the person that sponsored you into the business as well as the home office of Thirty One Gifts.

As well as the resources that are found in your virtual office, including industry-leading tools and dozens of online training modules.

What I Like About Thirty One Gifts

#1) There’s A Real Opportunity

Thirty One Gifts is offering women a legitimate home-based opportunity.

#2) Good Product Selection

There is a very large selection of different types of bags. And because of that it opens you up to a larger clientele.

#3) Return Policy

If for any reason one of their products doesn’t meet your customers’ expectations, they have 90 days to either exchange the product or asked for a refund.

#4) Strong Focus On Retail Sales

Unlike a lot of other MLM companies where the focus is on recruiting people. Thirty One Gifts puts a lot of emphasis on retail sales.

What I Didn’t Like About Thirty One Gifts

#1) Very Low Success Rate

The point of starting your own home-based business is to make money. But that’s not the case with Thirty One Gifts.

According to their own income disclosure statement over 80% of active consultants on average made less than $999 for an entire year.

#2) Recruiting

Even though the focus is on retail sales if you want any opportunity to earn the bonuses that are available through their compensation plan. It means you’re going to have to start recruiting people into your business.

And typically, that starts with friends and family. And then once you burn through your friends and family who are not interested in this business opportunity.

It now that means you’re going to have to try to convince people that you don’t know to try to join this business. And that is a lot easier said than done.

#3) MLM Business Model

The MLM business model is definitely a great business model for the company. But it’s an absolutely terrible business model to follow as a consultant.

As I’ve already mentioned their own income disclosure statement shows you have little chance of making any significant income through this business opportunity.

But more so, there’s been study after study that proves that trying to build a business and earn a significant income through the MLM business model is a recipe for failure.

99% of people to get involved with multilevel marketing companies lose money. And over 50% of the people that do get involved with an MLM company will quit within the first year.

#4) Home Parties

To be successful with the home party business model you need exceptional network marketing and sales skills. Not something that everyone possesses and not something that everyone can excel at.

The first few home parties are usually very simple to set up because you’re approaching your friends and family.

But once you’ve held a few home parties for friends and family and their circle of influence you’re going to find setting up new home parties can become more difficult.

And if you’re in this to make a full-time income you’re going to have to hold multiple parties each and every week.

And also, with the home party business model comes expenses. Such as, gas, food, and beverages for the party itself.

And since you’re not going to be holding the parties at your house all the time you also have to include the time it takes to get to these different insider host homes.

It’s a lot of work for little financial reward.

My Final Opinion Of Thirty One Gifts

Looking at these products, these are products that I would consider purchasing for the women in my life.

They look like nice products and they seem reasonably priced. Now of course I cannot comment on the quality of their products because I don’t have any.

However, from a consumer standpoint this could be a good resource for buying such products.

But from a business standpoint this is not a business I see people making any real money. And that’s backed up by their own income disclosure statement.

Anytime you’re looking at a business you have to look at the numbers. You have to take the emotion out of it. And their numbers don’t lie. Over 80% of their consultants made less than $999 for an entire year.

And keep in mind that amount of money does not include the expenses they incur to run their business. So, I’m sure it’s a lot less, and going by the statistics of MLM, I’m sure the majority of people actually lost money in this business.

So personally, this is a business opportunity that I would not encourage anyone to get involved with. I just don’t see the opportunity.

But if you think you can be the exception to the rule here, and you feel you have the network marketing and sales skills to excel with a business such as this.

Then by all means jump in with both feet and I wish you nothing but success.
