Is Royal Prestige A Scam?

So, if you’re into cooking and you’re looking for a way to make some extra money. Then maybe becoming a direct distributor of Royal Prestige cookware and accessories could be the way of making that extra money.

Now I say maybe because many companies that offer homebased business opportunities aren’t as great as they claim they are. And to find this out you have to ask questions like, Is Royal Prestige a scam? How much is it to get started? What’s the compensation plan like?

Now, those are the questions I’m going to answer along with many more in my review.

Now, before you get into my review you need to know I’m simply here to show you the pros and cons of Royal Prestige and give you my personal opinion about its business opportunity and let you know if I think this is a good opportunity or not.

And with that said, let me first say, good on you for taking the time to do your own research before jumping into any business. . That alone tells me your serious about finding a legitimate way to make money online.

Alright, let’s see what Royal Prestige is all about.

So, What Is Royal Prestige?

Hy Cite Enterprises, LLC (Royal Prestige) was founded in 1959 by Peter O. Johnson. They are headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin.

They are a direct sales MLM company marketing cookware and accessories. They currently have 4,500 distributors worldwide. They employ 700 people and currently have 1 million customers. And in 2019 they reported their revenue to be $306 million dollars.

The Product Line

If you’re thinking of becoming and independent distributor then you need to know what you’re going to be selling. So, before we get into the “making money” side of things let’s take a peek at what Royal Prestige has to offer.

Cookware

This is broken down into the following categories:

• Innove – this is their line of cookware systems. This includes 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10 piece cookware sets. Pan, colanders, and individual pieces.
• Novel – this is another line of cookware systems. This includes 5, 7, 8, and 10 piece cookware sets. Pan, stock pots and individual pieces.
• 5-Ply – this is their greaseless cooking system. This includes 5, 7, 8, and 10 piece cookware sets. Skillets, Pans, colanders, and individual pieces.
• Stock Pots – this is their line of different sized stock pots. They come in 12, 20 30 and 60 quart sizes.
• Pressure Cookers – here you’ll find their 6 and 10 liter pressure cookers.
• Electric Cookware – this is their 10.5-inch RoyalCore electric skillet. As well as their Slow Cooker Base that can turn a 3-quart or 4-quart pan into a slow cooker.

Cutlery

• This is their collection of different knife’s. Including a Damascus santoku knife,  steak knives, carving set, knife set, cleaver and accessories.

Easy Release Cookware

• This is their non-stick skillet that comes in 3 different sizes. 8, 10 and 12 inch.

Accessories

• Here you’ll find things like; bakeware sets, mixing bowls, stainless steel racks, kitchen tool sets and such.

Juicer

• This is their Royal Presitge juicer.

Royal Vort-X 

• This is their blender.

Tableware

• Here you’ll find their line of dinnerware, flatware and glassware.

Filtration

• This is their PureAmbience air filtration and their FrescaPure water filtration systems.

Are Their Products Worth The Price?

I’m a cook and I understand that to get quality cookware you may have to spend a little more. Now because Royal Prestige does not list any prices for any of their products on their site. I had to do some searching for retail prices.

Now since cooking systems are probably going to be the most popular thing to sell. I did find some pricing. For their 5-piece Innove Royal Prestige Waterless Induction Cooking System for sale on eBay for $995.95. That does not include shipping.

Now in order to compare pricing I went to Amazon and found a high quality 12 piece cookware set from Cuisinart. The price is $196.97. It has over 3,400 reviews with a 4.5 out 5 star rating from people that bought it. And this set comes with a lifetime warranty.

Here’s my point. if you’re going to get into this business you have to understand that this is not going to be an easy business. Especially when people can find the same quality (or better) cookware for far less money.

Plus, Royal Prestige has had their share of problems and complaints over the years. Products have been recalled due to them melting. And there are a number of customer complaints posted on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website.

These is something you really have to consider before jumping into any business opportunity. Because things like this will impact the success of failure of your business.

How Do You Make Money With Royal Prestige?

This is a direct selling business. Now as an independent distributor you can earn by retailing the product or by recruiting people into the business.

Here’s the thing.

I would love to tell you what the profit margin is on retail sales or what the compensation plan is. But I can’t. I dug and I dug and I could not find anything that tells you how much potential there is by being a Royal Prestige independent distributor.

So, without that information available how can you or anyone else make an informed decision about this business opportunity? You can’t!

Now when it comes to marketing the product. If it’s like other direct marketing companies that sell cookware such as Pampered Chef. Some of the marketing methods used are through private in home demonstrations, trade shows and fairs.

What’s The Price?

Now when it comes to the cost of becoming an independent distributor for Royal Prestige. The only information I found was on their site. And it states there is no investment.

Now that may be true if you’re just marketing products online.

But if you’re going to be doing parties and in home demonstrations and such. You’re going to have to buy the products you want to sell to people so you can show them in action.

And from the little information I have found about the cost of their products. I doubt that’s going to be cheap.

What I Like About Royal Prestige

#1) You Don’t Need Experience

The one thing about any MLM business opportunity is that you don’t need any experience. And that’s why MLM is attractive with so many people. And royal prestige is no different. No experience needed to get into this business.

#2) Verity Of Products

Royal prestige does has a nice range of products that you can market. So you can pretty much cover what most people are looking for when it comes to their cookware needs.

#3) 50 Year Warranty

50 years is a pretty long time. In fact, you could call this a lifetime warranty. However, this warranty does not cover all of their products. Here’s what covered for 50 years:

• RoyalCore™ Skillets and Cookers, Pressure Cooker and Related Pieces
• Precision Series™ Cutlery and Tools, Damascus Series™ Cutlery and Royal Prestige® Food Cutter
• Flatware

• Dinnerware
• 7-Piece Bakeware Set

#4) Payment Plans

There is no doubt their products are not cheap. So to help out, they can set people up on a payment plan.

What I Didn’t Like About Royal Prestige

#1) Overpriced Products

There is no pricing of their products anywhere on their website. But from my research I found that their products are awfully expensive.

#2) Product Recalls 

In 2013, after getting over 1,300 complaints the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a recall of Royal Prestige 9-Ply Thermal Wall Cookware because it would collapse and melt  when exposed to heat. In fact, one customer was splattered with hot oil when the pan collapsed.

#3) Consumer Complaints

There have been numerous customer complaints listed on the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website regarding royal prestige. Everything from poor customer service, to inferior products.

#4) No Return Policy

There is no return policy in place. So, if you have issues with any of their products you can’t return them. Now by federal law you do have 3 days to reconsider your purchase and you can cancel in writing.

But here’s the problem with that.

As soon as you order your product the clock on that 3 days starts. So, if it takes more than 3 days for you to receive your product you’re out of luck because you’re already outside that 3-day grace period.

#5) Lawsuit

In 2009 a lawsuit was settled against HyCite. This was the result of complaints from consumers being “hoodwinked” into buying expensive cookware ranging in price from $2,000 to $4,500 per set using scare tactics.

Such as claiming that non-stick or aluminum cookware can be harmful to families and could lead to illness. HyCite was ordered to pay $350,000 in restitution.

#6) Direct Sales

Not everyone is a born salesperson and certainly not everyone wants to become one. But with this job you have to love sales because the preferred method of selling these products is through home demonstrations.

So, unless you love sales and network marketing to find people to attend or host in home demonstrations this is going to be a very hard business for you to build.

My Final Opinion Of Royal Prestige

This is definitely a company I would not recommend getting involved with. For me, there are just too many red flags with the opportunity.

You have everything from customer complaints, overpriced inferior products to the complete lack of information when it comes to the business opportunity itself.

You have zero information on what the potential for making money is, how you’ll be supported and what the costs are to be in business with royal prestige.

And if you’re like most people looking for an opportunity this is not the only one you’re looking at.

So, right now all you’re looking for is the basic information about the opportunity. Things like the cost to get started, potential profits, what you have to do to build the business, etc.

And just knowing that basic information is enough to see if this is something you may want to further investigate. And then if you do, then you can talk to someone involved with Royal Prestige.

But without the most basic information about this opportunity there’s a lot of unknows. So, if you want to find out more about this opportunity you will need to contact some that’s involved with Royal Prestige.

But before you do, just remember getting involved with this business does mean you will be doing in home demonstrations to sell your products.

So, if network marketing to find people so you can do in home demonstrations and face to face sales is not in your wheelhouse then this business is definity not for you.

But that’s ok, you do have other options 

Look, if you’re into cooking and kitchen related stuff, you can still turn that passion into a fulltime online income.
