What Is Reliv International? Scam Or True Opportunity?

Welcome to my Reliv International review. So, what is Reliv International?

Reliv international is your typical multilevel marketing company in the health and wellness market selling weight loss, dietary, and nutritional supplements. With distribution in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Asia/Pacific, and Europe.

The company is headquartered in Chesterfield, MO, USA. And was founded in 1988 by Robert and Sandy Montgomery.

And just like all multilevel marketing companies they also have a homebased business opportunity available to anyone who’s interested.

Now if you’re here today I think it’s pretty safe to say you’ve discovered Reliv international on your own or someone has approached you with this business opportunity and you’re looking for more info about this opportunity before you decide to take the plunge or not.

And with that said, let me first say, good on you for taking the time to do your own research before getting involved with any business opportunity. That alone tells me your serious about finding a legitimate way to make money online.

Now, before we get into taking a good hard look at their business opportunity you need to know I’m simply here to show you the pros and cons of Reliv International and it’s business opportunity and give you my personal opinion. What you decide to do after reading my review is up to you.

Now when it comes to these types of products remember there are 100’s of other MLM companies and retail stores that market the same type of products claiming the same results.

Also keep in mind since these are nutritional supplements, they are not regulated by the FDA like drugs are. So, companies that market these types of product do not have to prove the safety or even the effectiveness of their products.

Now if you’re thinking of getting into business with Reliv. It’s probably a good idea for you to buy the products that interest you the most and see what results you get.

If you see positive results then you can stand behind the product(s). If they don’t work, then this may not be the products you want to be marketing.

So, How Much Is It To Get Started With Reliv International?

To become a distributor the cost for an online enrollment kit is $20.00. This kit includes:

• Direct deposit form
• Master Affiliate Application/Personal Volume Qualification Protection Program Form

After your first year as a distributor there is a $40 renewal fee each year you decide to stay a distributor.

You also have 2 additional options for running your Reliv business.

First you have the Reliv App.

You get a free 30 day trial after you have singed up and then it’s $4 per month after that.

With this app you can track and grow your business.

Your next option is the Reliv Web Bundle.

You get a free 30 day trial after you have signed up and then it’s $15 per month after that.

Along with the app you also get a Distributor Dashboard and Personal Website.

If you’re serios about this business having the Reliv Bundle is the way to go.

How Do You Make Money With Reliv International?

This is a multilevel marketing company so like all MLM companies they have complicated and confusing compensation plans. And no surprise Reliv is no different.

So, to make things easier for you I’m going to give you the simple overview version of their plan. But I do recommend that you read things for yourself. Here’s a link to their compensation plan. You can also watch a video regarding their compensation plan here.

Now they say there are 5 ways you can earn. But when you get down to it there’s really only 2 ways of making money.

The first way is through Retail Profits.

Your profit ranges from 20% to 40%. And this percentage is based on the volume of products purchased by you, your customers, and what your personally sponsored distributors purchase.

You will retain your profit level as long as you remain a Reliv Distributor in good standing.

The other way is by building your business. And you do that by Recruiting people. And when you do this, you now have the opportunity to climb the ranks within their compensation plan and earn the bonuses that come with the different ranks.

Wholesale Profits

As you get people to join your business and help them grow their business you can earn 5% to 20% wholesale profits. The amount you earn in wholesale profit is simply the difference between your profit level and your distributors purchasing products from you.

When you reach the highest profit percentage which is 40% you then become a Master Affiliate.

Overrides

You’re going to be paid for bringing people into your business as a master affiliate.

So, when you sponsor a master affiliate they break away from your personal group, and you’re going to teach them how to build their own organizations. And in doing so you’ll now override the volume from these master affiliates.

To stay qualified as a master affiliate you must have a monthly personal volume of 100 points.

Cash Bonuses and Trips

As a Reliv distributor you have the opportunity earn cash bonuses and trips. Of course, you must qualify for these cash bonuses and trips but it is a nice incentive as part of building your business.

Ambassador Team

This is an invitation only program. As part of the Ambassador Team you will be invited to global events where you will be paid by Reliv to teach people how to build a large Reliv business like you did.

So, Can You Expect To Make Money With Reliv International?

Of course, there is an opportunity to make money with Reliv. But the real question is – are you going to make money?

As much as I would love to tell you that you have a really good opportunity of making money with Reliv, I can’t.

The chances of you making any real significant money, and when I say significant money, I’m talking about earning a full-time income. Your chances are slim to none.

I’m not just saying that. Reliv’s own income disclosure statement proves you have a very slim chance of making any real significant money.

Now the latest income disclosure statement that I could find through their website is from 2019. You can read their income disclosure statement here.

Now, if you’re not sure what an income disclosure statement is. This shows the average earnings of distributors within a 1 year period.

And it shows that 91% of the people that joined Reliv (distributors and distributor earners) earned on average $125 for the entire year of 2019. And these people averaged a 9 and 10 year relationships with Reliv.

And even if we go to the next level of what they call Business Builders which comprises of 9% of all distributors.

They earned $6135.00 for the entire year of 2019. Which works out to $511.25 per month. Not even close to a full time income. And these people averaged a 12 year relationship with Reliv.

Now keep in mind these numbers do not reflect the money that people are spending to build their business.

Remember, to stay qualified you must have 100 PV each month. And that works out to roughly $150 a month. Then you have the $15 a month to maintain your back office and website. Which means before you’ve made a dime, you’re spending $165 per month.

Now that’s fine and dandy because there are operating costs when you’re running a business. But the frightening statistic with multilevel marketing businesses is that 99% of people to get involved in a multilevel marketing business will lose money.

And that’s no different with the Reliv opportunity. You more likely to lose money then make money.

You should be getting training from the person that sponsored you into the business. And along with your upline training you. Reliv also has additional resources to help you build and grow your business.

If you live in the U.S. you can add your phone number to their U.S. texting list allowing you to stay up to date with what’s going on. And you can also sign up for emails.

And within your distributor resource center you’ll find additional tools and training.

What I Like About Reliv International

#1) Well Established

The company has been in business since 1988. That’s HUGE!! Most MLM companies don’t make it past 5 years.

#2) Customer Return Policy

Reliv offers a 100% unconditional 30-day money-back guarantee to all retail customers.

#3) Members of the DSA

They are members in good standing of the Direct Sellers Association.

#4) Good Retail Commissions

For an MLM company they do provide their distributors with a good commissions that range from 20% to 40%.

#5) Legitimate Opportunity

Reliv is offering anyone who is interested in starting a homebased business a legitimate business opportunity.

What I Didn’t Like About Reliv International

#1) Expensive Products To Market

Every MLM company will tell you the reason why their products are so expensive is because they’re better than other products. And that’s so not true.

The reason why their products are more expensive is they need that money to pay out to the distributors at every level of their compensation plan. Remember, everybody’s getting a cut.

So, your biggest challenge is going to be trying to sell products that are more expensive than what people can find out in the open market such as Amazon or their local health food store that offer the same results but cost a lot less money.

#2) Low Success Rate

When it comes to the MLM business model it’s a business model that favors the company itself not the distributors. The company will always be making money, but less than 1% of people to get involved with MLM will actually make any real money.

According to a study done by the Consumer Awareness Institute 99% of people to get involved with an MLM will lose money.

#3) Recruitment Needed To Build Your Business

Yes, you can make money just retailing these products. But if you want to earn that bonus money and residual income offered through their compensation plan. You’re going to have to constantly be recruiting people into your business.

So not only are you going have to become a salesperson in order to sell your products. You’re going to have to become a salesperson to try to convince people to join your business. And that’s a lot easier said than done.

It definitely takes a certain skill set and a certain personality to excel in the MLM business model. And it’s no wonder that 50% of the people that you recruit will quit within their 1st year.

And that’s why you’re going to be on this constant merry-go-round of recruiting people because the majority of the people you recruit are going to quit. And can you blame them?

Constantly having to sell products, constantly have to beg people to join your business. All at the same time not making any money. Sure doesn’t sound like a fun way of building a business to me.

#4) Mainstream Products

When it comes to these types of products you can find them everywhere. Along with 100’s of other MLM companies you can find these types of products through regular channels such as Amazon and at your local supplement store.

My Final Opinion Of Reliv International

When I look at this company and the opportunity, I see nothing special here. In fact, it’s just another “vanilla” MLM company selling the “same old” products as other MLM companies in this market.

In fact, the health and wellness market is one of the most crowded markets when it comes to multilevel marketing companies. There are 100’s of companies selling all kinds of supplements, weight loss products, cosmetics.

Not to mention all the other companies that people can buy these products from that are not MLM companies.

And as for the actual opportunity to make money. Sure, there is an “opportunity”. But the chances that you’re going to make any significant money is slim to none.

With face to face selling and constant recruiting, this is a very hard busines model to succeed with. No wonder 91% of their distributors only made $125.00 in 2019.

As I see it, this is not a great business opportunity.

If you’re serious about building a successful homebased business my suggestion is you seriously consider using a different type of business model other than MLM for making money online from home.

You want a business model that gives you a much, much higher probability of success.

And Affiliate Marketing is such a business model.

With affiliate marketing you don’t have to buy and stock product each month.

There is ZERO recruiting, you don’t have to become a salesperson in order to make money. And you don’t have to meet ridiculous qualifications each money so you’re eligible to make money.
