Immunotec – A Little Background

Immunotec is a multilevel marketing company that’s in the health and wellness market.

Before Immunotec came to be Dr. Gustavo Bounous (founder) a surgeon noticed that similar patients could have very different outcomes (recovery) after a procedure. He thought that this may be due to a person’s diet causing the differences.

This put him on the path to discover which foods could impact the healing and recovery process in people. He soon discovered that certain proteins and amino acids had a significant effect on a person immune responses.

So, in 1978 Dr. Gustavo Bounous started a research project with Dr. Patricia Kongshavn and some other colleagues with the goal of finding an effective protein that would enhance our immune function.

And then in 1981 both Dr. Bounous and Dr. Kongshavn discovered a bioactive protein that aids in maintaining optimal glutathione levels from a byproduct of the dairy industry. We know this now as Whey Protein Isolate.

Then in 1988 Dr. Gustavo Bounous along with Dieter Beer founded the Immunotec Research Corporation.

And in 1996 Immunotec Research Corporation becomes Immunotec Research Ltd. along with Chuck Roberts as a founding shareholder and John Molson who was named Vice-President of Research and Development.

After it’s official launch in Canada in 1996, Immunotec launched in the United States in 1997. And today the company operates in several countries such as Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Spain, Ecuador, Mexico, United Kingdom, and Ireland.

They are a member in good standing with Direct Selling Association. And as such they must abide by the codes and ethics of the DSA.

The Average Income Of A Immunotec Consultant

First off, hats off to Immunotec for providing an income disclosure statement regarding the average yearly earnings of their consultants. Not ever MLM company does that.

And you know why? Because these statements typically paint a very dismal picture of the actual earnings of consultant. And Immunotec’s income disclosure statement is no different.

Now as a consultant you make no money by enrolling people into your business. All the numbers you see below are commissions earned from product sales.

As you can see in 2019, 92.9% of consultants earned less than $658.00 for the entire year. Break that down and that’s a whopping $54.83 per month.

And this statement does not account for the money consultants incurred while trying to build their business. So, in reality these consultants are losing money every month.

And as you go up in ranks yes the income increases but you’ll see that the percentages of consultants that are earning this money decreases dramatically to the point of less than 1% of consultants are actually making any significant money per year.

What Are People Saying About Immunotec?

It’s always good idea to see what people are saying about a company and a few resource for doing that are Better Business Bureau and TrustPilot.com.

I didn’t find anything at TrustPilot. However, I found several complaints on the BBB website. Most of them referring to fraudulent transactions.

For me this is a big red flag. And something you should take into consideration when making your final decision about joining this company.

What Training Can You Expect?

As with all MLM companies you should receive training from your upline sponsor. And along with support from your sponsor you’ll also find training from Immunotec in the back office of your website.

Here’s What I Like About Immunotec

#1) Long History

The company has been around since 1996. That’s an eternity in the MLM world. Especially since most MLM companies don’t make it past 5 years.

#2) Consumable Products

Selling consumable products means you can build up a clientele that’s places repeat orders.

#3) BRC Certified (GFSI)

BRC certification, meets international Food Safety Management Systems standards. And GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) means their facility also follows the requirements for food processors.

#4) Good Selection Of Products

With a wide range of products to sell. As a consultant this opens up a wider consumer market in which to build your business.

#5) Consultant Return Policy

As a consultant you have a 10‐day 100% money‐back guarantee from the date of purchase, less shipping and handling costs.

And you also have a 90%  money‐back guarantee for up to 3 months after the date of purchase on merchandise in resalable condition. Again, less the cost of shipping and handling costs.

What I Don’t Like About Immunotec

#1) It’s A MLM

Being an MLM business opportunity the chance of real success is slim to none. Their own income disclosure statement proves you have a very low chance of earning any significant money with this business.

#2) Flagship Product Is Very Common

Walk into any grocery or health food store or go online and you can find many different brands of Whey Protein powder offering the same results as Immunocal.

#3) Lots Of Competition

The health and wellness market has a ton of competition. And as such selling these products is going to be challenging to say the least. Especially when customers can find all of these types products online and in grocery and health food stores.

#4) Expensive Products

No surprise that their products cost a lot more than similar products found online and in stores. They need to jack up the price because they need that extra margin to pay out on their compensation plan.

Also keep in mind people what the best bang for their dollar and if people can find products that are offering the same results for less money, that’s where they will spend their money.

#5) Must Love Sales

You don’t make money off any people you enroll into this business. Your bonuses and commission payments are based on the sale of products. So, you’re going to need great sales skills in order to build your business.

My Final Thoughts

What stands out the most regarding this business opportunity is I keep looking back at that income disclosure statement where it shows over 92% of consultants that are in this business are making just over $54 a month.

Now you can’t tell me that working as hard as you have to within a multilevel marketing company that $54 a month is going to justify being in this type of business.

And I know the majority of these people are busting their ass to try to make this business work. But it’s just not working.

But they figure if they hang in there long enough it’s going to turn around. And the reality is for 99% of the people doing this type of business it will never turn around.

And I’m speaking from experience because I used to be in a multilevel marketing company and I busted my ass for over a year and I made nothing. So, I quit.

Now you may be the exception to the rule and be in that 1% of people that actually succeed in multilevel marketing. And if you like the company and you like the products that they’re offering will then maybe this is the business for you.

But if becoming a salesperson and having to meet all the qualifications within their compensation plan in order to make money doesn’t appeal to you. Then no, this business is not for you.

Now I mentioned I was in an MLM company and then I quit. So how my making money on today?

I’m an Affiliate Marketer. And have been making a full-time living as an online affiliate marketer since 2005.

And as an affiliate marketer I’m not a salesperson. I don’t have to sell anything to anybody. And I definitely don’t have to recruit anybody to help build my business.

I’m my own boss I’m in 100% control and ownership of my business. And I don’t have to meet any goofy qualifications or quotas in order to earn money.

Now if affiliate marketing sounds a little more appealing then being under the thumb of a multilevel marketing company.

Then I think you owe it to yourself to see exactly how affiliate marketing works and how you’re going to build your business around any interest, passion, or hobby that you may have.

And the best resource to get all the information you need to make an informed decision as to whether or not affiliate marketing is a path that you could take for creating a thriving home-based business online is Wealthy Affiliate.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you found my review helpful.

I believe in you!
