What’s The Best WordPress Theme For Your Site?

What’s the best wordpress theme for my website?

I get asked this question all the time.

And I get why it’s asked.

Because when you’re just starting this is one of the decisions that can in some cases stump people for days even weeks.

And there is no need for that.

So today let me share 4 things you should keep in mind when choosing your wordpress theme.

And remember you are NOT stuck with any theme you can change your sites theme anytime you want.

Ok let’s get to it.

Picking Your Theme

1) Choose A Theme That Relates To Your Niche

Well duh Leo.

Hey you would be surprised how many people don’t do this.

Some people pick a theme that is so far away from their niche that they spend more time customizing the theme they they do building their business.

If your niche is Real Estate then it only make sense to find a theme that is designed around real estate.

Then you can customize the theme a lot easier and a lot faster if you need to.

2) Think Simplicity

There are a ton of free themes that have some very complex features and may look great.

But when it comes to functionality it may not be so great.

And I say this because many free themes are not supported an/or updated. You could be deep into your business and then your theme starts causing problems and you have no where to turn for support.

I always recommend to someone who is just starting out to use a very simple theme. Primarily because they are easy to modify.

This allows you to have your site up and running faster. Plus you won’t be distracted by complex functions just to get your site up and running.

This allows you to slowly get to know how your site works and how wordpress themes work.

However if you’re looking for themes that have a lot going on then it’s a good idea to step up and pay for a professional theme.

You’ll find they are constantly updated and come with theme support.

Just keep in mind if you’re very knew to wordpress a more complex theme may frustrate you and delay your site getting up and running.

3) You Need A Responsive Design

You may also hear themes like this called Mobile Responsive.

If you’re not sure what a responsive design is. That’s a theme that will optimally display on all different types of devices. Like tablets, iphones and your desktop.

So a responsive theme will adjust it’s layouts so they make browsing on different devices easier. This way people do not have to keep zooming in and out to see your site and reads it’s content.

And another reason (the main reason) you want an responsive design is because more and more people are accessing the internet through devices like smartphones and tablets and that’s a market you want to tap into with your website.

So how do you know if a theme is mobile responsive? Well most companies selling themes make it a point to let you know on their sales page.

But to be sure you can go to the theme demo on the site and slowly reduce the size of your browser the theme should adjust itself as your browser window gets smaller.

Or pull out your smart phone and go to the companies website.

4) Make Sure You Like It

Keeping the first 3 things in mind – you need to make sure you like the theme.

Remember this is your storefront – this is your introduction to everyone stopping by.

You want to be happy when you look at your website. This way you can focus on building your business and not be thinking about how you don’t like the look of your website.
