What is Aweber?

Aweber is an online email autoresponder service.

There service allows any size online to company easily create email sign up forms to be placed on any website, allowing a business to deliver newsletters or company updates to potential customers through permission based email marketing.

What I Don’t Like About Aweber
  • To try Aweber it costs $1 so there is no REAL free trail. And if you don’t cancel prior to the trial ending you will be charged $19.
  • They have limited data importing options. You can only use a text based or a spreadsheet upload. Other companies allow uploads from accounting programs.
  • No mobile application is available at the time of this review.

How Does It Work?

Once you have create you account it’s time to set up your first autoresponder campaign. This is done by setting up the list settings.

Each list within Aweber has a unique name. So you need to start with the basic setting and name your new list. Here you also describe your list and set up notifications.

You then personalize your list. This is your branding which allows you to give your messages and pages the personal touch.

Now you move onto setting up your confirmation message. Your confirmation message is the very first email subscribers will receive from you when they subscribe.

This is the email that asks them permission to receive future emails from you. This prevents you from be accused of spam.

The subscriber must accept being on your list. Hence the name Permission Based Marketing.

Once you have done that, it’s time to set up your autoresponder messages. These are the automated series of messages that your subscribers are going to receive from you.

You can have plain text messages or you can use one of the over 600 templates available to give your messages that stand out look or you can even create your own.

You can have as many or few messages as you like and you also can set the schedule that the messages get sent out.

So you can have an autoresponse series of messages go out once a day, every other day, once a week, once a month – it’s totally up to you.

Your Optin From

Now it’s time to create the optin form that you’re going to have on your website. If you look to the top right of my site this is my optin form. I created the graphics so it is customized for my site.

But you don’t need design your own graphics for your optin form, aweber has 100’s of optin form designs to choose from.

And it’s just 3 easy steps to create your form:

  1. Design
  2. Settings
  3. Publish

Publishing your optin form (adding it to your site) is as simple as copy and paste. Simply grab the HTML code and paste it on your site where you want your form to be.

And a very cool feature to the forms functions is when you make any changes to your form you don’t have to copy and paste the code again – all your changes are automatically updated on your site.

You can have as many lists as you like and you can also send broadcast messages to your lists at anytime.

Broadcast Message

So what’s a Broadcast Message?

A broadcast message is one time message you can send to your list – this message can be sent right away or you can schedule the message to be sent whenever you like.

The great use for a broadcast message is that you can send a special message to your list at anytime.

Let’s say you just got notified of a great webinar and you want to let your list know about it. Simply create a broadcast message about the webinar and shoot it off to your list.

You can send your broadcast it right away or set it to go out at a specific time.

You can even set up a timed series of broadcast messages just like your autoresponder series if you like. This set up is great to use as reminders to your first broadcast message or to use as notifications.

Remember these messages will be sent on top of the pre-set series of messages you have for your list.

Does Aweber Offer Training?

You will find training throughout your account. Everything from text pop ups to videos.

Text pop ups are activated when you hover your cursor over any of the areas that need to be completed.

You can also go to the help section and there you can do a search for what you need a hand with. And you’ll either been taken to a text overview or a video overview, it simply depends on what you need help with.

And if you still can’t find what you’re looking for you can always contact aweber via live chat, email or by phone.

How Does The Pricing Work?

Pricing is on a monthly bases – you do have the option of paying quarterly and yearly as well.

The pricing is set up on a step system. Meaning once you reach a certain level of subscribers and additional fee will be added to the base price of $19.

With Aweber you start with your $1 trail. This will give you access to everything Aweber has to offer, nothing is held back.

After your one month trial period is over and you have not cancelled prior to the trail being over you will then be billed $19 per month.

This price allows you to have up to 500 subscribers and the ability to send unlimited emails to your list(s).

Here is the monthly step pricing once you exceed 500 subscribers:

  • 501 – 2500 – add $10
  • 2501 -5000 – add $30
  • 5001 – 10,000 – add $50
  • 10,001 – 25,000 – add $130
  • And over 25,000 subscribers you need to call aweber.
Who Is Aweber For?

You’ve probably heard the saying “The money is in the list”? And it is so true. A responsive email list can and does generate a full time income for many online marketers.

The reason a quality autoresponders service is so important is that not everyone that comes to your website is going to purchase what you have to offer on their first visit.

In fact on average only 2 out of every 100 people will purchase on their first visit. So as an online marketer it’s essential that you have some sort of capture system in place to get peoples contact information.

And once people are on your mailing list you now have the opportunity to build a relationship with these people. And once people know, like and trust you they will buy from you.

And you’ll never get that chance if you don’t try and gather peoples contact information.

Also think about this.

If someone trusts you enough to give you their contact information. They’re telling you that they already trust you a little bit and that they want more from you.

My Final Thoughts About Aweber.

I have been a customer of Aweber’s for over 9 years. Prior to that I used many other autoresponders services. Some held up to my needs and other fell very short.

All autoresponder companies provide the basic same service, with a few things that other do or don’t. But what has keep me a customer is a the ease of which to create and manage my lists.

And the most prominent feature is their customer support. Anytime I have had a question, concern or a problem I jump onto live chat and I get the attention and service I need.

To me this is the most important feature to any company.

If your goal is to build a thriving online business you’re going to need an autoresponder service.

Yes there are a lot of companies to choose from. And no matter whom you choose to use, the bottom line is you have to choose the company that is right for you and provides the things you need.

And with that said I have no hesitation recommending Aweber to you or anyone else.
