Is Purium A Scam? No, Not At All

Welcome to my Purium review. First off, to answer the question. Is Purium a scam? The answer is no they are not a scam. Purium has a legitimate home based business opportunity.

And while they do have this opportunity, it’s not geared for everyone. It takes a certain skill set to make this business work.

And with that said, after reading my review of Purium and what they have to offer will put you in a much better position to determine if you have the right skill set to make this business a success.

And if this is your first time at my site please know, I’m simply here to show you the pros and cons of Purium and they business opportunity they have to offer and give you my personal opinion. What you decide to do after reading my review is up to you.

And with that said, let me first say, good on you for taking the time to do your own research before getting involved with any business opportunity. That alone tells me your serious about finding a legitimate way to make money online.

Alright, let’s see what Purium has to offer.

Ok, So Who Is Purium?

Purium is a multilevel marketing company that was founded in 1993 by co-founders Dave Sandoval and Amy Venner-Hamdi.

Dave is a wellness expert and the author of the bestselling book called The Green Foods Bible. And Amy has been in the nutrition industry for more than 20 years.

Purium is in the health and wellness market and manufactures weight loss and other health related products. And the company is headquartered in Rancho Dominguez, CA.

The Products

Purium has a wide variety of products that you can buy individually or in bundles. You can find their products listed under Shop By Category. Or you can click the Quick Shop link that will list every product they have.

Below are 2 of their most popular bundles.

Transformation – $439.00

This is a 30 day program designed to nourish and detoxify your body. The pack includes:

• Build – this is their amino acid blend that may help create lean muscle, burn fat, and support mental acuity.
• Nourish – this is their protein shake that may support energy and reduce cravings.
• Detoxify – this may support your digestion and immunity.
• Regenerate – an organic super fruit they say this may help support sleep, combat free radical damage, and inflammation.
• Cleanse – they say their super cleanser may help with healthy bowel function and toxins.

Daily Core 4 – $244.00

These products are designed to help get your daily dose of plant-based nutrition.

And their daily nutrition pack fits into dietary preferences such as paleo, keto, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan.

Here’s what you get with Daily Core 4:

• Power shake – this is designed to help your digestive system and encourage healthy cholesterol and blood glucose levels.
• Biome Medic – this is designed to help support your microbiome health as well as protecting your gut from GMO’s.
• Super Amino 23 – these are free crystalline amino acids that can be absorbed in your bloodstream within 23 minutes. And are designed to help the recovery of muscle strength and help minimize body fat.
• Apothe- Cherry – this is designed to help you with your sleep and support healthy joint function through a variety of antioxidants and phytochemicals.

Now keep in mind all of the products that Purium have are considered supplements so the FDA does not have any provision to approve these types of products for safety or effectiveness.

So that means not everyone is going to see results with these types of products. And some people may even have negative results.

Things you have to keep in mind if you decide to market these types of products. Now, if you are thinking of getting involved in this business it only makes sense that you purchase these products and try them for yourself.

This way you can test things for yourself and see if you ahve any positive results using these products. And if you do that’s really going enhance your credibility when selling these products, because people are going to ask you if you’re using them and how well are they working.

And if you’re not using them well then, your credibility is going to be shot. Because would you buy products from somebody that’s not using the products?

I know I certainly wouldn’t buy products from someone who’s not using them. And on the flipside, if you try these products and you see no results or you have a negative result then this is probably not a business opportunity that you would want to get involved with.

So, How Much Is It To Get Started With Purium?

When I went to enroll, I was presented with 3 options Good, Better and Best launch packs.

Good having no products. Better saying it comes with 30 meals with Daily Core 4, and Best saying it comes with 60 meals with Ultimate Lifestyle Transformation.

So, I click on all 3 to see what the difference in price was between the 3. And guess what? They all cost $199.00. And I was brought to the exact same check out page each time.

At this point I was a little confused but I figured things out. It’s just how goofy they have the sign up process set up. Or maybe I’m slow – LOL.

Anyway so on the check out page you’ll see options to add differnt packages of product. And if you do, you’ll save the $199.00 for the complimentary launch pack if you add a featured pack or bought $500 in product.

If you do enroll with a complimentary launch pack you’ll get the following:

You can say no thank you to this. Whether you add a pack or not you’ll come to another check out page where you will be prompted to subscribe to their Smart Order. Smart order is their monthly subscription program.

They say it makes sure you maximize your earnings as well as maintaining your health. Yeah, it’s not designed to maintain your health.

The reality is – you have to buy product every month regardless if you need it or not in order to be eligible to earn money. And the incentive on the Smart Order is be eligible for the following bonuses if your order is 50BV (business volume) each month.

• $2500 in FAST start bonuses
• $2500 in ongoing matching bonuses
• All weekly & monthly earnings
• 3 & Then Free Program
• Earning loyalty discounts faster with double (2x) rewards points on every order
• Promos & Contests

But here’s the thing since you only need 50BV to be eligible for the above bonuses you don’t need to sign up for the more expensive subscriptions they recommend that give more than double the BV points needed and cost well over $150.00 for many.

If you want to meet eligibility each month and be on smart shop, simply choose a few products that will give you your 50BV and this will keep you well under $100.00 per month.

You can also say no thank you to the subscription. However, if you do you will need to manually order a minimum of 50BV product each month to be eligible.

NOTE: At each point during this enrollment process they are encouraging you to spend more money.

Even the person that is enrolling you will probably encourage you to show your commitment to this business and try to persuade you to go all in.

But be aware this encouragement is typically in their best interest, not yours. Because the more you spend the more commission the person enrolling you will make.

If you’re going to do this, only spend what you feel comfortable with to get your business going. And can be a minimum of $49.00. Not $199.00.

If you scroll down the enrollment page, you’ll see you can enroll for just $49.00.

Both options of just $199 and $49 come with no product. And if you want to be commission and bonus eligible as I mentioned a moment ago, you’ll need to have a minimum of 50 BV each month.

Now with that said if you’re going to get into this business joining and not having product is really not that practical when starting out.

If you’re selling these products, as I mentioned earlier, it only makes sense that you try the products for yourself and see what results you experience. Good and/or bad.

Of course, you’re not going to use them all, so just buy the ones you want to use (try).

How Do You Make Money With Purium?

Like all MLM companies they have their own version of a compensation plan. And typically, these compensation plans can be a little hard to understand. Especially with the MLM jargon they use within these plans.

And Purium’s compensation plan is no different. So, I’m going to give you the simplified version here. But I recommend that you read this compensation plan yourself. Or even better make sure you have the person that is enrolling you go through everything with you.

You definitely want to be absolutely clear on how you are going to make money through this compensation plan. You can find the link to their compensation plan on their website.

Now with that said, when you boil it down there are 2 ways of making money.

First is simply Retailing their products and earning commissions from those sales. And the other way is by recruiting people into your business and work your way up the compensation plan.

And the higher you rank the more money you can earn.

Brand Partner Earnings (retail sales)

• Customer Orders – You’ll earn a 20% commissions on all retail sales before S&H and tax. And this commission is paid weekly.
• K Club Bonuses – You can earn an extra $50 for every $1000 in customer purchases on a monthly basis. 1K Club = $50, 2K Club = $100, 3K Club = $150 and so on.
• Team Customer Orders – 5% of BV (business volume) is paid up 4 levels.

Brand Partner Program

This is how you can earn more commissions when you enroll and upgrade brand partners.

Fast Start Bonus

When you enroll or upgrade, you have the chance to earn up to $1,500 in cash bonuses.

• Consultant – If you enroll 2 active brand partners and/or customers within 10 days you will earn $100 bonus.
• Director – If you enroll 3 active brand partners and/or customers within the month you enrolled/upgraded + 1 full month you will earn a $400 bonus.
• Executive – If you enroll 4 active brand partners and/or customers within the month you enrolled/upgraded + 2 full month you will earn a $1000 bonus.

Fast Start Matching Bonus

When you enroll a new brand partner and help them achieve the ranks in the fast start timeline you earn a matching bonus.

Monthly Compensation

Lifestyle Bonus

Between the ranks of Diamond and Red Dimond you can earn up to $2,500 in monthly cash bonuses.

There are 3 ways you can qualify for this bonus.

1. Create a new rank advancement of consultant or above during the month.
2. Enroll 3 new brand partners with a launch pack during the month.
3. Have $1000 in personal enrolled customer sales within the month.

Between the ranks of Crown and – Royal Crown II you can earn up to $10,000 in monthly cash bonuses.

You can earn this bonus by creating a new rank advancement of Director or above during the month. Or, have $2000 in personal enrolled customer sales within the month.

5% Profit Sharing Pools

The Diamond 1% pools pay 2% on all Purium BV across North America. And the Crown Pool pays 3% of all Purium BV across North America.

The qualification for this are the same as the ones needed for lifestyle bonus.

Achievement Bonuses

If you don’t achieve the fast start bonuses during the required time you can still earn bonuses moving through the ranks.

• Consultant – $50
• Director – $200
• Executive – $500

Leadership Coded Bonus

As with any of these bonuses you must meet and maintain the requirements of each rank to be eligible for the bonus at that rank.

So, Can You Expect To Make Money With Purium?

The latest income disclosure statement I could find for Purium was 2018. Now if you’re not sure what an income disclosure statement is.

It shows you the average annual income of active distributors over a 1 year period. And in this case, that’s from January 1st, 2018 to December 31st, 2018.

And they report the median annual income for all U.S. active distributors during this 12 month period was $398.00. Which works out to $33.16 per month.

Now keep in mind this does not represent a distributor’s profit because these numbers do not take into consideration any expenses incurred by a distributor to promote and run their business.

And when taking that into account it’s safe to say distributors for Purium are more than likely losing money instead of making money.

Which is really not that big of a surprise when it comes to MLM. The reality is that 99% of people that join an MLM will end up losing money.

What I Like About Purium

• The company is well-established and has been around for a very long time.
• They provide you with a 60 day money back guarantee.
• Gift card program where you can hand out $50 gift cards so people can try the product.
• Legitimate business opportunity for the right person.

What I Didn’t Like About Purium

• Their products are very expensive.
• It is expensive to get started with this business.
• People having success with an MLM is very low.
• There are hundreds of multilevel marketing companies within the health and wellness niche. Such as Shaklee, Melaleuca and Forever Living.
• If you want the opportunity to earn bonuses within their compensation plan you will have to regularly recruit people.

My Final Opinion Of Purium

There is no denying that Purium as a legitimate home-based business opportunity. But personally, the issue that I have with this opportunity is it’s a multilevel marketing business opportunity.

And it’s been proven time and time again that the multilevel marketing business model does not set people up for success. But unfortunately, people get sucked into this business opportunity because there told that they want to hear.

You’re sold on the idea of how much money you can make and how making all this money can change your life.

But you’ll find anyone that’s recruiting you into a multilevel marketing business will never get into the real details of what you actually have to do in order to earn this money. They just say it’s easy.

What they’re not telling you is you have to become a salesperson for the products themselves. And you have to become a salesperson trying to recruit people into your business.

Yes, you can make money simply retailing the product. But if you want the opportunity at those big bonuses and those big life changing commission checks you’re going to have to constantly be recruiting people into your business.

And I don’t know about you but having to constantly sell people on the idea of getting involved in a business does not sound like a really fun way to build the business.

However, if you think you have the sales skills and the network marketing ability where you have to constantly recruit people to build your business in order to earn a decent living.

Then maybe, just maybe this may be the business opportunity for you. But before you jump in make sure you’re being very honest with yourself.

Are you prepared to become a salesperson and are you prepared to constantly have to recruit people to join your business?

And if you’re not prepared to do what it takes to be in the less than 1% of people that join a multilevel marketing company and see success, then this or any other multilevel marketing business is not for you.

But that’s okay. There are so many other options for building a thriving online home-based business.

And the option that I always recommend is affiliate marketing. This is how I’ve made my living since 2005 and not once have I had to sell anything to anybody nor have I ever had to recruit anybody to build my business to make money.

And if the health and diet market is what you’re passionate about. That’s great! You can easily build a thriving online affiliate marketing business around that passion.

In fact, no matter what your interest, hobby, or passion is you can build a very successful affiliate marketing business with the right effort.

Now I don’t know if you know exactly how affiliate marketing works and how you’re going to build your business through affiliate marketing.

Now is affiliate marketing going to be the business model that you’re going to use for making money online? I have no idea.

But what I do know it makes sense to compare multilevel marketing to affiliate marketing and then this way you’ll exactly which business model is going to work best for you.

Because when you get right down to it, you have to do what works for you.
