So, What Is Maskcara Beauty?
Maskcara Beauty is an MLM cosmetic and skin care company that was founded by beauty blogger and makeup artist Cara Brook back in 2013 and is based in St George, Utah.
Her vision is to empower women through her products by simply adding a layer of beauty on top of a woman’s already natural beauty. As well as providing a business opportunity using MLM as the marketing business model.
Ok, before I get into how you can make money let me briefly touch on the products that Maskcara Beauty has to offer.
The Products
In the world of MLM Maskcara Beauty is nothing new in terms of what they provide. They are no different than other MLM companies such as Avon or Atomy, just to name a few.
Maskcara Beauty has a wide verity of cosmetic products for people to choose from. They have:
- Makeup
- Skin Care
- Brushes & Tools
- Compacts & Clutches
- Perfume
- They also have
- Bundles
- Pallet Builder
- New Releases
Now when it comes to the pricing of her products you will find them in line with other brands. For example, her eyeshadow ranges between $9.60 and $11.20.
And her skin care products range for as low as $12.80 for lip conditioner up to $112 for a complete skin maintenance system.
However, the flagship product of the company is they IIID foundation.
So, what is IIID foundation?
As explained by Maskcara Beauty because your face is not 1 dimensional it makes no sense to use a single foundation color all over your face. With IIID foundation you can apply specific colors in specific places of your face to achieve your desired look, instead of layering color after color.
Getting Started With Maskcara Beauty
With Maskcara Beauty you are not known as a distributor as like other MLM companies. You’re known as an Artist. But despite the term “artist” you’re really a distributor.
To get started you simply need to sign up on their site. When you do you can either sign up under another Artist. This would be a someone who has introduced you to the business opportunity.
And if you don’t have an artist to sign up under you can simply enroll without an artist.
At this point you will need to buy an artist kit. There are 2 to choose from.
Basic Artist Kit – $199.00
- 25 Catalogs
- 25 Host Brochures
- 25 Opportunity Brochures
- 25 Post Cards
- 18 IIID Foundation Singles
- 1 Powder Single
- 2 Brushes / 1 Perfector
- 3 Compacts
Pro Artist Kit – $399.00
- 25 Catalogs
- 25 Host Brochures
- 25 Opportunity Brochures
- 25 Post Cards
- 21 IIID Foundation Singles
- 12 Eyeshadow Singles
- 2 Powder Singles
- 6 Brushes / 1 Perfector
- 4 Compacts
- 20 Temporary Tattoos
- Milk Moisturizer
One thing you need to be aware of once you decide to buy the Basic Kit you cannot upgrade to the Pro Kit in the future. Basically, they are telling you “buy the pro kit”.
On top of the startup costs you will need to pay a monthly ongoing fee of $9.95 so you have access to the back office tools for building your business.
How Can You Make Money With Maskcara Beauty?
As with most MLM companies you have 2 ways of making money through Maskcara Beauty
- Retail Commissions
- Recruiting People
Retail
As an Maskcara Beauty Artist you need to go through a “training” period. Now there is no set time for you to go through this training period.
This training period is the time it takes you to sell your first $800 of product before you graduate. And during this training period you will earn a 20% commission on all the products you sell.
Once you have sold your first $800, you’ve officially graduated and out of training and now can earn up to 40% commissions.
And your commission rate will depend on the sales you make on a weekly or monthly basis. Those volumes are as follows.
- $1-$399: 20% – paid weekly
- $400 – $799: 5% – paid monthly
- $800 – $1999: 5% – paid monthly
- $2000-$3999 5% – paid monthly
- $4000 + 5% – paid monthly
Recruiting
Like all MLM companies if you want the chance to make the big money you will need to recruit people into the business. Meaning getting people enrolled into your downline (team).
Now you can only start recruiting people once you have graduated your training. You can’t do it during the training period. So the faster you can reach your $800 the faster you can start recruiting people and build your business.
And as with all MLM’s your rank within the company will depend on your eligible commissions and bonuses. And for Maskcara Beauty they are:
- Elite HAC-ER: 3% CV
- Top HAC-ER: 6% CV
- Artist Ambassador: 10% CV
- Elite Ambassador: 13% CV
- Top Ambassador: 19% CV
- Influencer: 21% CV
- Elite Influencer: 24% CV
- Top Influencer: 27% CV
- Executive Director: 31% CV
Now like most MLM compensation plans they can be a little confusing and even harder to explain.
I would love to find an MLM compensation plan that didn’t give me a headache trying to figure it out. That’s why I have not gone into all the details of their compensation plan. But I have not left you hanging.
I did find a YouTube video that goes into all the details of their compensation plan and bonuses. Just click the image to watch the video.
What’s The Price?
The cost is very straight forward. You have to kits which to start your business. You have the basic kit for a cost of $199.00. Or you have the pro kit for a cost of $399.00.
Plus, you have a recurring monthly fee of $9.95 which gives you access to the tools you can use to build your business.
One note is if you decide to start with the basic kit and later on decide you wish to upgrade to the pro kit. You cannot upgrade. So, in a subtle way they are steering you towards the purchase of the pro kit for $399.00.
What I Like About Maskcara Beauty
#1) Good Products
From the reviews I found online people really like the products that Maskcara Beauty has. Not only for the quality of the products. But they fall in line with the pricing of other brand name products.
#2) Nice Packaging
Along with how much people like the products they also mention how elegant and modern the packaging is.
#3) Refund Policy
If you are not completely satisfied with your Maskcara Beauty purchase you can get a full refund within 30 days of your purchase.
What I Didn’t Like About Maskcara Beauty
#1) The Training Period
Most if not all MLM companies do not have any sort of training period. And I find it odd that Maskcara Beauty does.
They are forcing everyone to sell $800 of product before they can access all the benefits they offer when it comes to the earning potential. With other MLM’s you can either retail, recruit or do both right after you join.
#2) It’s An MLM
The MLM business model is one of the worst business models you can use to try and build a business. Oh, it’s great for a company but it’s absolutely horrible for the people who think that MLM is their ticket to financial freedom
The cold hard truth is that 99% of people that get involved with MLM will lose money and fail.
#3) Tough Sell
As an “Artist” I think you’re going to have a tough time selling makeup, let alone convincing people to get involved with this business opportunity. You’re going to have to constantly try and recruit people to get into this business.
So, I hope you enjoy becoming a salesperson. Or as people that do this business are called “serial recruiters”.
And like most people the first people you’re going to approach are your friends and family. And more often than not that does not turn out well at all.
Most people see MLM as pyramid scheme or an outright scam and you’ll find you won’t get a warm reaction when you tell your friends, family and other people that you have an business opportunity and it just so happens to be an MLM business opportunity.
Bottomline, you’re going to have a very hard time convincing people to get into this business.
#4) No Income Disclosure
Maskcara Beauty does not provide an income disclosure statement for the earning of their “Artists”. And this is a big red flag.
This tells me 2 things. The first reason why is most of the Artist are not making any money. Or 2 they just don’t want to share it.
But my gut tells me it’s the first reason.
When I have discovered income disclosure statements from other MLM companies the stats are not very inspiring. More often than not the majority of the people involved, and in some cases over 90% are not earning any significant money.
And I mean people are earning less than $100 per month. Not what you call life changing money by no means.
So, at the time of this review I could not find an income disclosure statement for Maskcara Beauty Artist so I can’t tell you if the “Artists” are making any real money.
But like I said past experience shows most people never do.
My Final Opinion Of Maskcara Beauty
I’ve never like MLM mostly because everything is stacked against you when it comes to succeeding. And years and years of past data proves that it’s a bad business model and the majority of people fail.
But there is a small percentage, like 1% of people that do succeed in MLM. Not great odds by no means but there is a chance. And if you think you can beat the odds and make this opportunity work, then go ahead.
People seem to like Maskcara Beauty products so at least you have that in your favor.
In My Opinion, You Have A Better Option
Here’s how I make a full-time living online. And it doesn’t require me to recruit anyone to build my business. Nor have I ever had to sell anything to anyone either.
And unlike an MLM I have 100% control and ownership of my affiliate marketing business.
I’m talking about affiliate marketing. This is one of the most proven and successful business models anyone can follow for making money online.
Plus, you can build your business around any hobby or passion you have.
And the best place to teach you and provide you with all the tools, resources, and personal one-on-one support while building your affiliate marketing business is Wealthy Affiliate.
In fact, it’s wealthy affiliate that has helped me build my affiliate marketing business into a multiple 6-figure a year passive income.
And there’s no reason you can’t do the same or build an even bigger business.
Another great thing about wealthy affiliate is you can check out everything they have to offer you for free.
