Alright, let’s take a look at Isagenix.
Ok, So Who Is Isagenix?
Isagenix is a privately held multilevel marketing company that markets dietary supplements and personal care products, as well as offering people the opportunity to have their own homebased business.
The company was founded back in 2002 by John Anderson, Jim Coover, and Kathy Coover. And is headquartered in Gilbert, Arizona.

Now you need to remember when it comes to products like these since they are dietary supplements they are not approved by the FDA.
Which means any company that sells these types of products does not have to prove that they are safe or that they’re even effective before they bring them to market.
Now there is a little bit of evidence that does suggest that some diets that include certain foods such as coriander, nori and olestra can help your body’s natural detoxification system.
But making the claims that products such as these can rid your body of excess toxins is more of a sales tactic to get you to buy the products.
So, when it comes to these type of products you really need to inform yourself of the benefits and the risks using these type of products. Simply put – buyer beware.
So, How Much Is It To Get Started With Isagenix ?
When you enroll as an associate with an initial “Qualifying Product Order” on their autoship program. Your yearly membership fee is reduced from $39.00 to just $29.00. This also gets you additional discounts on your products.
And as an associate to be eligible to receive commissions and bonus you must stay “Active”. And to be considered Active you need to generate a minimum of 100PV (Personal Volume) each month. And you can reach this minimum PV though consuming products yourself or sales.
And this 100PV needed each month is equivalent to around $150.00 per month. Now they have a few different starter pack you can choose from or you can choose your own products.
If you choose your own just be sure to have at least that 100PV. You can see a list of the products and prices here.
The Isagenix Compensation Plan
Isagenix uses what is called a binary compensation plan. So this puts you at the top of your organization with 2 people below you creating a left and right leg.
With their compensation plan there are 5 different ranks.
- Associate
- Consultant
- Manager
- Director
- Executive
And as you climb the ranks the more commissions and bonuses you can earn.
Of course, with each rank you must meet and maintain the specific requirements to be eligible for those bonuses at each rank.
With their compensation plan, there are 6 ways you can earn money. But in reality, there is only 2 ways.
- Retailing
- Recruiting
Retailing is straight forward. You get the products at a discount and then you sell the products to friends, family, and people you meet at the retail price. And the difference between your discount and the retail price is your profit.
Now, to get access to those bonuses and other higher commission you need to recruit people into your business (downline).
Here’s the other 5 ways you can make money.
Now MLM compensation plans can get confusing, so I’m just going to give you a very simplified outline of how to make money. You can read a detailed version of their compensation plan here.
You can also watch a video on YouTube that I found that gives a great overview of their compensation plan. Click here to watch that video.
Retail Direct Profits
Just like retail profits when you sell products you earn a commission. With Retail Direct Profits you earn commission when someone buys products through your Isagenix replicated website.
Product Introduction Bonuses
These bonus is earned when sharing qualified paks or systems with a new Member on their initial order.
Team Bonuses – known as Cycles
Here you can earn Team Bonuses through product sales within your sales team. To be eligible for this bonus you need at least 900GV (group volume). 300PV from one side (leg) and 600PV from the other side (leg) of your tram.
This is known as a cycle. And you can earn up to 250 cycles per week.
Executive Matching Team Bonuses
Executives are eligible to receive a 10% Matching Team Bonus on the weekly team bonuses of all of your personally enrolled associates at paid-as consultant rank and above.
Special Incentives And Promotions
These incentives consist of Rank Advancement Bonuses, and Leadership, Pools, etc.
So, Can You Expect To Make Money With Isagenix?
When it comes to making money it’s not looking good. In fact, earnings are terrible.
You’ll make more money working for a month at a part time minimum wage job then you will with Isagenix for an entire year!
As you can see in the above image from their global income disclosure statement for 2019. Associates who received money from Isagenix, approximately:
- 50% (about 32,556) made more than US$466, and the other half made less.
- 10% (about 10,294) made more than US$3,256.
- 1% (about 650) made more than US$45,413.
Now they also say that there are 308 Isagenix millionaires. But that’s not associates making that amount within 2019. That’s the total amount these people earned being an Isagenix associate. With the associates in this group averaging 6.1 years and the longest being 16 years.
And remember these numbers are the gross amount people earned. It does not reflect the money people have spent working on their business.
So, it’s safe to say the majority of associates that got involved with this business are losing money. But Isagenix is not alone when it comes to the extremely low earning potential when it comes to MLM.
99% of people who get involved with a MLM business opportunity will lose money.
I do have to tip my hat to Isagenix because not all MLM companies will provide you an income disclosure statement.
And in my opinion the reason other MLM’s don’t provide this information is because they know that the chances of people making money is slim to none.
But now thanks to Isagenix you have the numbers, you have hard facts to make a solid decision as to whether or not you want to pursue this opportunity.
I know what my decision would be based off these numbers. You can take a look at their income disclosure statement for 2019 by clicking here.
What I Like About Isagenix
1) There Is A Real Opportunity
if you’re an experienced network marketer and salesperson there is a real opportunity here for someone who has this skill set.
2) Established Company
The company has been around since 2002. And when it comes to multilevel marketing companies that’s a big deal. Most MLM companies don’t make it past 5 years.
So, if you do decide to get involved with this business you are getting involved with an established company that’s probably going to be around for many more years to come.
3) 30 Day Return Policy
If for any reason you’re not 100% satisfied with the product. You have 30 days from the time of purchase to get a refund.
What I Didn’t Like About Isagenix
1) Little Success For Associates
According to their own income disclosure statement 50% of their distributors made less than $466.00 in a year and the other 50% made less than that.
And also keep in mind this is just the gross income. This does not include the money people spent to keep their business going. Remember in order to qualify for commissions you have to spend or sell at least $150 with the product each month.
And if the average person is making less than $500 a year you know every distributor that’s sticking around is losing money every single month.
2) Overprices Products
This is a running theme with all MLM companies that their products are way more expensive than similar products you can find in the open market.
And the products are expensive, not because they’re products are better. It’s because they need that extra money to pay out on their compensation plan to the distributors. No more no less.
Take for example their whey protein concentrate. At the preferred customer price of $46.99 you get 28 ounces. And on the sales page, they keep talking about how their whey protein concentrate is Undenature.
While there’s nothing special about that. You can buy Undenature whey protein concentrate everywhere for much less money.
For example, on Amazon there are all kinds of whey protein concentrates to choose from. Such as one from Nutricost. It is a grass fed whey protein concentrate. It is undenatured and non-GMO, and gluten free. A 32 ounce container costs only $29.95.
Remember consumers are all the same. Including you. People want good products at a good price.
So it’s very likely it’s going to be a challenge selling these products especially when you’re selling products that have similar content and cost way more money than lower priced store-bought alternatives.
3) Not A long Term Weight Loss Solution
The Isagenix product line is simply a meal replacement weight loss program. And yes, people will lose weight quickly on this type of program but it will be short lived.
Relying on shakes and processed snacks is not a long term solution for permanent weight loss. Plus, these are pre-portioned replacement meals that are high in sugar. And it’s NOT real food.
If you want a long term solution to weight loss. The most proven and effective method is adopting a diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods. And regular exercise.
4) Recruiting
MLM companies will tell you that you have all different kinds of ways of earning money. But when you get right down to it there’s only 2 ways you can make money through multilevel marketing company.
The first way is simply retailing the products to friends, family, and the people that you meet.
But if you want any shot of making the life-changing money that MLM companies say you can make. There is no way around it you’re going to have to constantly try to recruit people into your business.
And that’s a lot easier said than done. So not only are you going to have to become a salesperson to sell your products. You’re going have to become a salesperson to try to convince people to get into your business.
And one thing you’ll notice about everybody that’s trying to recruit you into a multilevel marketing company. They don’t talk about what you have to do to actually build your business.
You’ll notice they’re just going sell you on the dream of how much money you can make and how your life is going to change once you make all this money.
And when they do talk about building the business, people just talk about how easy it is to sell the products and get people involved in the company. That is so far from the truth.
If it was that easy then why is it that over 50% of people that get involved with multilevel marketing will quit within the 1st year?
Also, when surveyed why did 65% of people say if they knew what they knew now they would not join the same multilevel marketing company ever again?
So, the truth of the matter is if you’re not prepared to become a salesperson that has to constantly sell products and constantly recruit people to try to build their business. This is not a business for you.
5) Forced Autoship
To stay qualified as a distributor to be eligible for the bonuses and commissions that are available through their compensation plan. You have to generate 100 PV every month.
And you can do that either by consuming the product yourself or selling enough products that generate 100 PV. And that 100 PV translates to approximately $150 per month.
And to ensure that you meet this monthly minimum Isagenix has you go on a monthly auto shipment program.
Now, if you sell $150 worth of product each month this auto shipment program is a nonissue.
But for the vast majority of people that are involved in this business they’re forced to spend $150 per month just so they can stay qualified to have that very slim shot of trying to earn money through this compensation plan.
The only person in this equation that’s guaranteed to make money every month is the company, not you.
Personally, I just find it ridiculous that people are forced to spend money each and every month on products they may or may not need just to stay in business.
6) MLM Business Model
The multilevel marketing business model is a wonderful moneymaking business model for the company itself. But it’s a horrific business model if you’re looking for a way to build a successful home-based business.
There’s been study after study that has proven that only 1% of people that get involved with multilevel marketing actually make any significant money.
The rest of the people involved lose money. And what’s worse, many of these people end up deeper in debt after being involved with an MLM company.
My Final Opinion Of Isagenix
I’ll say it again Isagenix is not a scam. Nor are they a pyramid scheme. They have real consumable products and they are offering a legitimate home-based business opportunity.
If you want to try the products go ahead. Just keep in mind these products are way overpriced and you can easily find simliar products that offer the same results for a lot less money.
You certainly don’t have to spend over $300 per month on stuff that’s not food. Nor something that you can’t realistically continue long-term.
You’re far better off buying REAL food and committing to a regular exercise routine if you’re looking for a long term weight loss solution.
And as for the business opportunity I have to give that a hard pass.
The multilevel marketing business model is a business model designed for failure.
And their own income disclosure statement proves that. 50% of the distributors are making less than $500 a year and the other 50% are making even less than that.
Now of course I don’t know you and you may have the skill set that’s required to excel within multilevel marketing.
And if that’s the case and you like what Isagenix has to offer. Then by all means jump in with both feet and I wish you nothing but success.
But on the other hand, if the thought of becoming a salesperson and a serial recruiter doesn’t sit well with you. You’re not alone.
Yes, people want a home-based business opportunity. But I don’t think people want to be forced into becoming a salesperson and forced to into recruiting people in order to make money.
Now the truth of the matter is there are far better business models that you can follow to build a thriving online home-based business.
And the business model that I always recommend is the one that I use, and that’s Affiliate Marketing.
With affiliate marketing you don’t have to become a salesperson nor do you have to ever recruit anybody to build your business.
And unlike being with a multilevel marketing company you’re not forced to buy product each month in order to be eligible to earn money. Nor do you have to meet any other qualifications to earn money.
Now if you come this far in my review maybe you’re still on the fence about joining Isagenix.
And if so, before you make a final decision here’s what I suggest you do. You should take the time to compare multilevel marketing to affiliate marketing.
Then this way you’ll be able to see which business model will work best for you. Because when you get right down to it. You have to do what works best for you. No matter what path you take.
And the best resource for learning the exact steps on how you’re going to build your business as an online affiliate marketer around any interest, passion, or hobby you have. Even if that interest includes health and wellness. is Wealthy Affiliate.
And the great thing is wealthy affiliate allows you to see everything they have available to you for free.
