Click Funnels Review – A Great Product But Not Cheap

clickfunnels

Updated, March 21, 2022

Welcome to my ClickFunnels review

In 2104 ClickFunnels was started by Russell Brunson & Todd Dickerson and over the years has become a go-to software for building sales funnels.

It’s easy to use and you don’t need to be tech-savvy to use it.

While many online marketers pay people lots of money or spend hours upon hours mastering the process themselves, ClickFunnels cuts the creation of sales funnels down to a fraction of the time with the few clicks of the mouse.

In my review, we’ll take a good look at ClickFunnels and then you can decide if ClickFunnels is something you need or not.

But first, let’s start at the beginning.

What Is A Sales Funnel?sales funnel

Sales funnels are part of a marketing funnel with steps that convert your visitors (leads) into customers.

Everyone at some point or another we’ve all ended up on a landing page and given our email address in exchange for something free. It could be free software, free information, a free trial, a free book, anything really.

This freebie is known as a “lead magnet” and it’s the beginning of a sales funnel.

And by giving up your contact information, you’re now on someone’s email list and you’ll now be sent automatic emails from the list owner that are designed to build a relationship with you and strengthen that list owner’s brand and try to convert you into a customer.

Here’s an example.

A fitness instructor is offering a free 7-day weight loss plan. You sign up and get this plan. You’re now on this fitness instructor’s mailing list.

Now you start getting follow-up emails. These follow-up emails may include tips, recipes, and such for living a healthy lifestyle with each email encouraging you to pay for a more in-depth personal evaluation or any other product they may have.

So, How Does ClickFunnels Work?

The system itself is actually quite simple.

Instead of spending hours, days, or even weeks setting up and perfecting a campaign, the program provides easy drag and drop options to quickly get your campaign up and running.

So the first step is deciding the goal of your campaign so that you know what kind of funnel system to set up.

Lead Generation Funnels

There are 2 types of lead generation funnels. You have a Squeeze Page, also known as a landing page. And an Application Page funnel.

Both are designed to capture people’s email addresses the difference is the information you gather.

With a squeeze page, you gather email addresses to build your mailing list.

An Application funnel is a sales funnel page where you’re looking at getting more than just an email address. You’re looking for more detailed information.

Where do they live, how old are they, how much money do they make, what do they do (job), etc.

Collecting this information allows you to segment your email list allowing you to send the most relevant offers to each segment. So, you can send lower-priced offers to one segment and send higher-priced offers to another.

Trip Wire Sales Funnel

This is by far the most used type of sales funnel. It’s also a fantastic lead generation funnel too.

When a lead hits your landing page and enters their contact and payment information they are taken to a low-priced one-time offer page before they hit the final checkout page.

This “tripwire” offer definitely increases your funnels revenue.

Video Sales Letter Funnel

This is just like the tripwire sales funnel but it’s done in video format. Video is very powerful:

  • 88% of people spend more time on a website that has video content
  • When it comes to social media video is the favorite type of content
  • Video marketing produces 66% more qualified leads

Product Launch Sales Funnel

The perfect option for anyone that has a new product to launch and wants to get people interested before it is actually available. You know, build the anticipation so that consumers are ready to buy when the launch actually occurs.

Webinar Sales Funnel

This is what you would want to use when you want people to sign up for live or recorded webinars.

Top Features Of ClickFunnels

ClickFunnels offer many features to make your funnel creating easier and more robust.

Here are the ones that stand out.

The Drag And Drop Page Builder

The drag and drop system makes building your sales funnel a snap. No need for coding or design experience. Simply place elements where you want them to create your own custom page.

A/B Testing

By using  A/B testing you can test different elements at the same time on different pages and see which one works best. This way you can be sure your funnels are perfectly optimized for maximum conversions.

Up-Sells and Down-Sells

Upsells and down-sells can greatly increase your revenue. With the one-click upsells and downsell feature you can add additional pages that offer additional add ons or offer one-time discounts or offers.

Share Your Funnels

This is a cool feature. You can share a funnel you created with anyone you like. So how does that benefit you?

Let’s say you share your funnel with a friend and they decide to create their own ClickFunnels account. You’ll earn a recurring commission from them doing so.

Analytics

You can’t know what’s working without knowing the data. So, ClickFunnels provides you with all the statical data you need to track the performance of your funnels, from sales to conversion rates and everything in between.

Follow-Up Funnels

Follow-up funnels goes beyond just sending follow-up emails. With follow-up funnels, you can send personalized messages to individual customers.

Opt-in Forms

With 3rd party integration to Aweber, MailChimp, Get Response, and other autoresponder services you can create appealing option forms to build your mailing list from a variety of available templates within ClickFunnels.

Check-Out Forms

Many sales are lost to what is known as “cart abandonment”. So, to avoid losing this person forever you can create a checkout form that captures your lead’s email contact information giving you the opportunity to send future marketing emails.

Multiple Payment Gateways

With ClickFunnels you don’t have to worry about 3rd party payment gateways. Some of the payment gateways Clickunnels seamlessly works with are PayPal, Stripe, Apple Pay and Android Pay, Keap, etc.

Just note the number of payment gateways you have available depends on the subscription you have with ClickFunnels. Basic gives you 3, Platinum gives you 9, and the Two Comma Club gives you 27.

List Building

With the building list building feature, you do not need a 3rd party email marketing service.

Affiliate Dashboard

Keeping track of multiple affiliate programs can be challenging. But with ClickFunnels keeping track of things is done all in one place through the affiliate dashboard. Here you can see your affiliate statistics and see which programs are generating the most income.

Membership Areas

With this feature, you can create members-only content. After purchasing a membership, you can provide your members with any type of content you want. You can even create things so your content is scheduled for release.

Funnel Templates

The whole point of ClickFunnels is to make funnel building easy. And with a variety of pre-designed customizable funnel templates to choose from it doesn’t get any easier.

Who Is ClickFunnels For?

In theory, this product can be used by anyone.

But I think it’s safe to say that it’s definitely better geared towards experienced individuals who have their own products and who already run sales campaigns and understand how they work.

If you’re already working with your own sales funnel, this can be a great time saver and allows you to easily create almost any type of campaign you want with templates and custom options for the different funnel types.

With that said if you’ve never used a sales funnel for your marketing of course you can still use ClickFunnels.

Just be aware that even though there is training on how to set up your funnels, there will be a huge learning curve for anyone who has not had experience in email marketing, squeeze pages, or opt-in offers.

Not to mention this product does not include any copywriting, which can make or break any sales funnel. It just provides the foundation for marketers to work without the headache of a lengthy design process.

Now when it comes to copywriting, like I said it’s not included with a ClickFunnels subscription but there are Funnel Scripts which is copywriting software by Jim Edwards.

And at the time of this writing, it can be purchased separately for a one-time payment of $797.00.

What’s The Price For ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels offers a 14-day free trial. And if you want to continue using their service you have 3 different plans to choose from. Basic, Platinum, and the Two Comma Club.

Basic

The Basic plan will cost you $97.00 per month. It does come with many important features but those features are limited compared to the other subscriptions.

Here are the features of the Basic plan:

  • Share funnels
  • 20 funnels
  • 100 pages
  • 1 user
  • 3 payment gateways
  • 3 domains
  • Chat support
  • Funnel Hacker forum
  • Funnel Flix – Funnel Flix is video training available to all members that cover topics from basic funnel building to personal development.

Platinum

The Platinum plan will cost you $297.00 per month. This plan is for people who are much more active with multiple online campaigns.

Here are the features of the Platinum plan:

  • Unlimited funnels
  • Unlimited pages
  • 3 users
  • 9 payment gateways
  • 9 domains
  • Follow-up Funnels
  • Priority support
  • Weekly peer reviews
  • Funnel Hacker forum
  • Funnel Flix – as well as Virtual Hackathon areas. Virtual Hackathon is live funnel building training with a coach.

Two Comma Club

The Two Comma Club is for people who have made more than 1 million dollars from a single funnel. And this will run you $2, 497.00 a month.

It’s called the Two Comma Club because there are two commas in 1,000,000 when you write it out.

Anyway, here are the features of the Two Comma Club:

  • Share funnels
  • Unlimited funnels
  • Unlimited pages
  • 10 users
  • 27 payment gateways
  • 27 domains
  • Follow-up Funnels
  • Priority + VIP support
  • Weekly peer reviews
  • Funnel Hacker forum
  • Funnel Flix – as well as access to Virtual Hackathon, and the Two Comma Club X areas.

ClickFunnels has now introduced an annual payment option for the Basic and Platinum plans.

If you pay annually for the Basic plan you can save $197 a year. And if you pay annually for the Platinum plan you can save $594 a year. So, you pay for 10 months and get 2 months free.

What Training Can You Expect?

There is an entire training area within the member’s area.

Not only are there in-depth articles with step-by-step instructions for creating the different types of funnels, but there are also videos and recorded Q&A sessions for people looking for more in-depth assistance with the product.

As for the actual creation of the funnel pages, ClickFunnels works on a drag and drop system. Who doesn’t love that?

This means people with zero coding experience can still create beautiful pages that reel visitors in. Whether you want to alter a template, use one as is, or create one from scratch; anyone can create the perfect page.

For people who are not coding challenged, you can also insert custom HTML so there are no limitations no matter what one’s experience level is at creating web pages.

How’s The Support?

Brunson has done a great job of implementing a great support system. In fact, as of January 4th, 2021, Live Chat is available 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday to all members.

Support includes the ClickFunnels bot where you can type in your questions and get help articles. And if you don’t find the answer you can click the Get In Touch button. You can also reach support by email at any time.

You’ll also find help documents, search the knowledge base, live training, and access to the ClickFunnels community.

What I Liked About ClickFunnels

ClickFunnels has a variety of aspects that I liked including:

Training

Detailed training allows anyone to create simple squeeze pages or extensive sales funnels using an easy-to-use drag and drop page creator.

Support

A large selection of support options to meet the preferences of anyone having problems.

Easy To Use

Clean and simple interface with easy-to-use elements so that pages can be created by clicking, dragging, and dropping.

Funnel Options

A variety of funnel options to meet the needs of any type of funnel marketing.

Funnel Stats

Users can see the page views, unique page views all opt-ins, and opt-in rates with their opt-in funnels.

If you have a sales funnel you can see the earnings per click, gross sales, average cart value, sales count, sales rate, sales value, recurring count, much more.

You can even apply different filters to evaluate your funnel’s performance.

What I Didn’t Like About ClickFunnels

No product is perfect and ClickFunnels is no exception, while the list is small there are a few things I disliked.

Price

Now for the basic plan of $97.00, that’s not so bad for someone that’s willing to pay for the service.

But I feel even at $97.00 let alone at $297.00 per month this is an expense many new marketers are not willing to spend and rightfully so. Especially when there are far less expensive alternatives that do the exact same thing.

You Don’t Own Your Funnel

Yes, you own the content (data) of your funnel but you don’t own the funnel itself. All funnels are hosted through ClickFunnels. And I understand why.

But if you choose to leave ClickFunnels your funnel will stop working. You’re far better off using an alternative resource where you are 100% in control and ownership of your funnels.

Not Suited For Marketers That Have No Product

ClickFunnels is best suited for marketers that have their own product to sell not for affiliate marketers who don’t own their own product.

My Final Opinion

For the experienced marketer, there is no doubt that Clickfunnels can provide a huge benefit, such as building your mailing list and of course directly selling your product.

As mentioned previously, it might not be optimal for brand new marketers unless you’re looking to spend a pretty penny to learn the aspects of online funnels from scratch.

It’s a good program that delivers exactly what it promises and can be a fantastic asset to people running multiple online campaigns who want to be able to control it all in one area without wasting hours upon hours creating their own funnels from scratch.

Now if you’re an affiliate marketer or you’re new to affiliate marketing building funnels is a marketing model you can follow and it does work.

But ClickFunnels is not something you need to spend money on to do it with.

ClickFunnels is overkill and as I mentioned it is best suited for marketers that have their own product.

Personally, if I was going to do this form of marketing I would look at Thrive Themes which costs 5 times less than ClickFunnels and does everything you need.

When using funnels to promote an affiliate product or service. You simply need a landing page, that leads to a bridge page, which then leads your prospects to the product page, that’s it.

bridge page

All right that’s it.

I hope you found this review helpful and I hope I answered any questions you may have had about ClickFunnels. And of course, if you have a comment or question please leave it below.

Now, if you’re looking for a step-by-step blueprint of how to build a successful affiliate marketing business without using a sales funnel, here are the 4 simple steps to follow.

So do you have a personal experience that you would like to share about ClickFunnels?

If you do, I would love to hear about it. Your feedback is always welcome and it can help others make a decision whether or not to spend the money on this program.

And if you did find his review helpful and enjoyed it please feel free to share it with your audience.

  1. Hi Leo,

This sounds like an awesome product and it could be a real asset to your business as long as you are experienced in how to get traffic to your site first. I’m at the point in my business where I want to start creating sales funnels and drive traffic to squeeze pages through PPC and other methods.

It sounds like I could really benefit from using click funnels, but this sounds like a pretty expensive program like you have said.

When you compare this to Leadpages it seems like they would be a better deal. I do think this is a pretty impressive product, just a little overpriced.

I also love it that they have a pretty decent support system as long as you are on the personal level. Would you recommend this product over Leadpages? Which one do you feel will provide me with the most value for my money?

Thanks so much for such an awesome review and keep up the awesome work you are doing here.

    Cheers,
    Your Friend, Scott

    • Hey Scott,

It is a great product there is no doubt. But I would personally choose LeadPages over Clickfunnels.

Leadpages for me is the best bang for your buck.

      Cheers.

  2. Hey Leo

I can definitely agree with everything you have said in your Click Funnels Review.

I unfortunately was one of those who found Click Funnels (Through some dodgy coaching) before that I found Wealthy Affiliate.

There is a process to making money online and jumping the gun on any step can seriously set you back months if not years as far as building a successful online business goes.

Needless to say, at that stage, it was just to early in my online journey to make proper use of it and I had to leave it, as well as Aweber behind at that time to focus on the fundamentals (Started from scratch… again due to dodgy training that did not match with my morals).

Here is what I will say for your readers though…

TRULY AMAZING PRODUCT and if you are at a stage of your online career where you see value in more precisely funneling your traffic, then it is a must and the cost will in all honesty not be something that is of a concern to you when related to your ROI.

It is SUPER EASY to use and what is really cool in my opinion is that you can share your funnels with your team/ community which will instantly boost rapport and trust through the value your are building for them… Assuming your team is at a stage where they can make use of the funnels. (btw… you need Click funnels to use the shared funnels 😉 )

Aweber combined with Click Funnels definitely has my stamp of approval and will be an asset to any online business… PROVIDED, set business is at a stage where there is enough targeted traffic to support the monthly outlay.

If you are new or don’t yet have traffic… Listen to Leo’s advice… Crawl before you walk… Walk before you run… And get the best online internet marketing training around from Leo’s recommended Wealthy Affiliate Community.

They will take you from Beginner to a Master in a time frame that suits YOUR level and speed of learning.

Keep up the awesome work Leo!

    • Hi Marc,

Yep this is a great product but the problem and you mentioned it, is that people well this product and say “Wow I can make a lot of money using this”. And while that is true the problem is you already need to know how to generate traffic.

Whether it be to your website or a funnel. Now a product such as this is NOT going to teach you how to generate traffic, that’s not its function.

So don’t put the cart in front of the horse. Learn the fundamentals, the wealthy affiliate will people teach that and a lot more.

And once you know how to generate the traffic then if you want to add it to your marketing, sure by all means use clickfunnels. But as I said, not until you know how to create traffic.

Thanks for your comment, it’s always great to hear form you.

      Cheers.

  3. Hello Leo!

This is a great, detailed review. Click Funnels looks like a great product but it is not for me yet. This is a very useful product for people much more experienced than me.

I love the fact that it can save you all the time needed to create funnels like that and I don’t really find it very expensive.

I will not use this service yet but I will keep it in mind for the future!

Thank you for taking the time to check the product and review it for us Leo!

    Very helpful as always!

  4. Great review on Click Funnels! The Startup and Enterprise levels are a bit beyond my needs at this time but the Personal could be a viable option. I am in the market for a good auto responder and I don’t mind paying more if it gets results.

I know there are cheaper auto responders out there but when the time comes that I’ll want to create more sophisticated sales funnels, I’d already be working with a product that I’d be somewhat familiar with.

Although you did mention that more affordable resources do exist for other programs of those types. What would recommend to the person who wants to start an email list?

    Reply
    • Hi Steve,

Clickfunnels does not have a built in autoresponder you would need to integrate that into clickfunnels.

Now as for starting out building your mailing list my recommendation for an autoresponder is Aweber. It’s what I use and is considered the industry standard.

The cost starts at $19 per month and of course to save a little money you can pay annually. Here’s a link to thier pricing plans http://www.aweber.com/pricing.htm

      Hope I answered your question

      Thanks for dropping by

  5. The drag and drop funnels with different end-goals would be perfect for a simpleton like myself, lol. Building an effective sales funnel can really be a pain in the butt, especially if you aren’t clear on what your goals are and what steps you need to take to get there.

One thing I wasn’t exactly clear on – so the sales pages within the funnel are hosted on the Click Funnels server?

And you create individual landing pages for each part of the funnel?

Is there an option to do an ‘if this then that’ setup, so if a user decides to buy something, they get taken to Page 2A but if they decline they get taken to Page 2B?

Sorry, more questions than I planned on asking lol. Looking forward to your response Leo!

    • Hi Nathaniell,

The program does make things easier that’s for sure. What would takes days to set up you can literally do in a matter of minutes.

      To answer your questions:

The funnels are hosted on clickfunnels servers. They are subdomains – subdomain.clickfunnels.com. However you can create custom domains for your funnels. With the starter level you are allowed 3 custom domains. These domains need to be set up though Cloudflare (it’s free to do)

As for creating different “landing pages” it depends on the funnel you’re creating. For example for a sales funnel there is one primary landing page, this is the beginning of the funnel. You then set up you upsells, downsells and so on from there. As you said Page 2A or Page 2B.

For an optin funnel there would only be the landing optin page to get people onto your list.

I hope I answered your question.

Thanks for popping by, good to see you again.

      Cheers.
