Click Funnels Review – A Great Product But Not Cheap
Product Name: ClickFunnels
Price: $37/$97/$297 (starter/personal/enterprise)
Owner: Russell Brunson
Ranking: 7 out of 10
Everyone at some point or another has signed up to an email list for a free gift, or purchased a product and noticed that there are upsells right after or even that we’re offered a discount when we try to leave the page.
So how are things like this accomplished?
While many online marketers pay people lots of money or spend hours upon hours upon hours mastering the process themselves, there are programs like ClickFunnels which can cut the creation of these pages down to a fraction of the time with the few clicks of the mouse.
So What Is ClickFunnels?
ClickFunnels is a program somewhat like Leadpages that allows people to create a variety of different online funnels.
It’s an online platform with templates and customizable options for people looking to quickly and efficiently create a multitude of funnels ranging from traditional optin squeeze pages to membership funnels.
It has been designed to simplify the entire process of actually creating the funnel from landing page to the end whether it be a thank you page, a downsell option, or to an upsell page.
Who Is ClickFunnels For?
In theory, this product can be used by anyone.
I would not recommend this though especially because it can be quite costly for those with a set budget. The service is geared towards people who already understand the sales funnel to begin with when it comes to online marketing.
Even though there are training programs on how to set up your funnels, there will be a huge learning curve for anyone who has not had experience in email marketing, squeeze pages, or opt-in offers.
Not to mention this product does not actually include any copywriting (which can make or break any landing page) it just provides the foundation for marketers to work without the headache of lengthy design processes.
It’s safe to say that it’s definitely better geared towards experienced individuals who already run sale campaigns of some sort online and who understand not only the benefit of these types of funnels but also understand how they work.
If you’re already working with your own sale funnels or are selling products online, this can be a great time saver and allow you to easily create almost any type of campaign you want with template and custom options for the different funnel types.
How Does It Work?
The system itself is actually quite simple.
Instead of spending hours, days, or even weeks setting up and perfecting a campaign, the program provides an easy drag and click options to quickly get your campaign up and running.
The best part is that members can run their campaigns through a subdomain of Clickfunnels without having to worry about getting everything onto their own sites.
The first thing you’ll need to do is choose the goal of your campaign so that you know what kind of funnel system to set up. At the moment, there are seven main funnel types available:
Sales – Have something to sell? Then you should probably check this out.
One neat feature of this product is that it can integrate a number of payment methods so that you can set up page after page of initial sales, up sells, and down sells for your products.
Webinars – This is actually listed as two separate funnel types because there are two very different routes to take with this type.
But essentially this is what you would want to use when you want people to sign up for live or recorded webinars
Opt-in – Probably one of the most common types of funnels, the opt-in pages or lead capture pages are an easy way to get people onto an emailing list.
Launch – Perfect option for anyone that has a new product to launch and wants to get people interested before it is actually available. You know, build the anticipation so that consumers are ready to buy when the launch actually occurs.
Membership – While not your traditional “sales” funnel, the membership templates allow you to send out organized trainings, lessons, information, etc. based on when people signed up and what they sign up for.
Custom – You probably guessed it! Customize your funnel with a combination of the ones above to create the perfect funnel to meet your goals.
This is all fine and dandy but remember if you don’t know how to drive traffic to your funnel. The best platform in the world is of no use to you. You need to know how to generate the traffic first!
What’s The Price?
This is really the most controversial part of ClickFunnels.
While it is a good system to get people results, it can really add up depending on what you are trying to accomplish. If you’re interested, keep in mind that there is a 2 week free trial membership for each level.
There Are Three Membership Levels:
Personal – This is the cheapest option starting at only $37 a month.
You can only create five funnels with a max of 20 total pages with this option so if you want to expand you’ll need to upgrade. Also no order forms or easily implemented up sells.
Startup – At $97 a month.
The first thing to mention here is that this is the minimum option for anyone who wants full access to the templates and custom option funnel options.
The startup membership is for people who are much more active in their online campaigns, especially if you want to try and split testing (considering this counts as two funnels). At this time, up to 20 funnels can be created.
Enterprise – Are you an online sales machine?
This runs $297 a month but allows up to 70 funnels. I would imagine if you had 70 different sales funnels to run then you’ll probably find this option will work best for you and the price probably doesn’t make you bat an eye 🙂
The most unfortunate part of course is that even if you wanted to give it a test run at the lowest price level, you’ll be at a disadvantage because this membership level does not have access to all the templates and funnel options.
It’s worth noting that there are yearly discounted packages but they’re not made available until after you have actually signed up for one of the memberships so that’s one option for those interested and looking to save money.
Here’s A Quick Comparison
Now if you compair this to a similar product such LeadPages and their starter subscription. Their cost is $444 per year or $37 per month. Clickfunnels starts at the same price point of $444 per year or $37 per month for the Personal Level.
Pretty much the same service provided at this level but it’s limited for each.
Here’s when things change.
With Leadpages if you want to go all in and have access to everything, you can for the annual fee of $477. Or you can pay monthly ($67 per month).
But you will end up paying way more doing things monthly – over the course of a year you’ll pay $804 compared to $477.
However with clickfunnels to access everything you need to step up to the Start Up level and the monthly cost for that is $97 and the annual cost is $1164.
But even when you pay the additional fee you still don’t get unlimited usage at any level with clickfunnels, you’re still restricted to the number of funnels and pages.
Like I’ve said good service, just way too expensive.
Are There Any Upsells?
While I’m not normally a fan of upsells to begin with, it’s to be expected for most products and Clickfunnels is no different. Fortunately, I pleasantly surprised to find that there was only ONE upsell.
When you sign up there is an option for a $47 training guide that is supposed to help you create successful funnels.
It’s an ebook called 9 Secrets Funnel Training and is a nice addition to the product if you think your skills could use some help.
Keep in mind though that there are cheaper items on the market that can help you learn more about how to successfully run these types of campaigns.
What Training And Tools Can You Expect?
There is an entire training area within the members area and outside the members area.
Not only are there in depth articles with step by step instructions for creating the different types of funnels, but there are also videos and recorded Q&A sessions for people looking for more in depth assistance with the product.
As for the actual creation of the funnel pages, ClickFunnels works on a drag and drop system. Who doesn’t love that?
This means people with zero coding experience can still create beautiful and functioning pages that reel visitors in. Whether you want to alter a template, use one as is, or create one from scratch; anyone can create the perfect page.
For people who are not coding challenged, you can also insert custom HTML so there are no limitations no matter what one’s experience level is at creating web pages.
How’s The Support?
Because this is still a fairly new system (almost a year old) there are some kinks that are still showing up and being worked out.
Though this is to be expected for any product like this; Brunson has done a great job of implementing a support system.
Support includes a forum, a commonly asked questions and knowledge base areas with videos and tutorials and the ability to create tickets, and email support.
For people above the personal membership level, there is also phone support for immediate assistance.
What I Liked
ClickFunnels has a variety of aspects that I liked including:
- Training – Detailed enough for anyone to be able to create simple squeeze pages or extensive sales funnels with a few videos and clicks of the button.
- Support – A large selection of support options to meet the preferences of anyone having problems.
- Interface – Clean and simple interface with easy to use elements so that pages can be created with clicking, dragging, and dropping.
- Funnel Options – A variety of options to meet the needs of any type of online marketer.
- Live Analytics – Users can see live data as to the number of people visiting their pages as well as how many people are clicking through. This information with split testing can help anyone optimize a campaign for the greatest return.
What I Didn’t Like
No product is perfect and this is no exception, while the list is small some things I disliked included:
- Price – There is such a large gap between the lowest and highest memberships that I can’t help but feel this is geared towards deep pockets. This can make it difficult for a number of marketers to take full advantage of everything that is offered.
- Membership Levels – I really don’t like the different membership levels being split into three.
My Final Opinion
For the experienced marketer there is no doubt that Clickfunnels can provide a huge benefit, such as building your mailing list and of course directly selling your product.
As mentioned previously, it might not be optimal for brand new marketers unless you’re looking to spend a pretty penny to learn the aspects of online funnels from scratch.
It’s a good program that delivers exactly what it promises and can be a fantastic asset to people running multiple online campaigns who want to be able to control it all in one area without wasting hours upon hours creating their own funnels from scratch.
Like I said this is a good service in fact ClickFunnels is great in combination with the Wealthy Affiliate because you can learn how to drive traffic to your funnel.
And even if you decide that you don’t need someone to help you build a sales funnel quite yet, you still need traffic in order to make money online.
Learn the fundamentals first, you know, walk before you run.
Build a solid foundation to your business first. Then and only when you know how to drive traffic to your website should you entertain the thought spending money on such a service.
I hope you found this review helpful and I hope I answered any questions you may have had about it.
